Maybe Section 230 doesn’t shield AI companies from liability, after all...



Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act may not protect AI companies from liability because their chatbots’ speech is not third-party speech but their own. A recent German court ruling holds AI companies responsible for errors made by their chatbots, which could influence U.S. law. If AI firms were held liable, they might work harder to reduce harmful mistakes in their technology.
